Year 3

In Year 3 our class teacher is Mrs Baron and our teaching assistant is Mrs Egan.

On a Wednesday afternoon we are very lucky to be taught French by a French and on Tuesday we have our very own dance specialist come into school.

In French we have been working really hard and learning lots about this exciting language!

This half term we are creating danced based on our theme 'Italy.'! Scroll down below to see a video of our Roman dance.

Multi-Cultural Me!

This half term in Year 3 we have been looking at the different cultures in our community.  As part of our learning we looked at food from these cultures. We had a go at making Polish Plum Cake and had fun making it too.

Bring Yer Wellies

To consolidate our learning on Rocks, Fossils and soil from last half term we went on a school trip to 'Bring Yer Wellies,' where we met the fabulous Melissa and Nigel. Here we were able to look at lots more different rocks, we were able to make our very own soil and we even got to plant two herbs and take them home! We've all promised to take good care of our herbs and make sure we water them, but not too much.

Our new favourite saying is now, 'No rooties, no Shooties.' Nigel explained that this meant, if we do not look after the roots properly and take care of them, then the plan will not grow the shoots it needs to enable the plant to grow.

In the afternoon Ricky and Barney (the two beautiful horses) said because we had worked so hard in the morning we could go and use their field to play some team games in. We had lots of fun den building and working together to complete lots of different challenges. Melissa and Nigel even managed to get us, the teachers, involved with the running games!

Healthy Snacks

The children in Year 3 enjoyed making their fruit kebabs, as part of their healthy eating lesson in Science. We have been learning all about the different food groups. We now know what each food group does for us and we know what certain foods have in them. We have even been collecting our food packets to look at the nutritional information.

What makes the Earth angry?

For World Book Day we took part in lots of exciting activities. Year 3 came dressed as their favourite book character, even Mrs Baron and Mrs Egan! We created comic strips for the fairy tale 'The Gingerbread Man.' We starting by learning about the features of comic strips and then used them in our own. We also decorated our very own gingerbread man!

Later in the day we used the iPads to create a film trailer for our favourite fairy tale. We had to think carefully about what parts of the story we wanted to show and choose our wording carefully. All the children did a fantastic job with their film trailers and should be very proud of themselves!
